Project Information:
Founded in Southern California in 1992, Skechers has grown into a global footwear and lifestyle brand known for combining comfort, innovation, quality and style.
Today, Skechers offers lifestyle and performance footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and children, with its products available across approximately 180 countries and territories and around 5,300 Skechers retail stores worldwide.
For its store in Bundoora, Victoria, Skechers required a high-capacity footwear storage solution within a particularly narrow back-of-house footprint. Bowen was engaged to design a stockroom that would maximise capacity while maintaining clear access and practical organisation for store staff.
The 50m² stockroom is just three metres wide, with two entryways and structural columns adding further constraints to the layout.
The brief was to accommodate a high volume of footwear while maintaining a clear walkway and creating defined storage areas for men’s, women’s and kids’ ranges.
Bowen designed a tailored layout combining two Compactus systems with static shelving positioned along the stockroom walls to maximise the available space.
The configuration created dedicated zones for men’s, women’s and kids’ footwear, while a customised desk with pigeonhole storage added a practical workspace within the same footprint.
The completed solution provides capacity for 4,780 shoeboxes within 50m², while maintaining a clear walkway through the three-metre-wide stockroom.
